Due to the nature of the study, I hope to recruit (the mother, father, or guardian) of these students to anonymously complete their own 2-page questionnaire (copy enclosed).Interested students, who volunteer to participate, will be given a consent form to be signed by their parent or guardian (copy enclosed) and returned to the primary researcher at the beginning of the survey process.

Alternatively, kindly submit a signed letter of permission on your institution’s letterhead acknowledging your consent and permission for me to conduct this survey/study at your institution.

Pierson, Ashley, What Makes a Successful Principal? This document was submitted as a dissertation in September 2014 in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the doctoral degree in public policy analysis at the Pardee RAND Graduate School.The committee that supervised and approved the dissertation consisted of Susan Gates (Chair), Francisco (Paco) Martorell, and Lynn Scott.Incorporating School Principal Background in State and District Policy. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to investigate the effect climate has on student achievement: explore the effect school leadership has on student achievement; determine if principals' leadership strategies influence the school climate; and investigate in what ways principals' perceptions of their leadership strategies affect school climate.Parents who volunteer to participate will also be given consent forms to be signed and returned to the primary researcher (copy enclosed).If approval is granted, student participants will complete the survey in a classroom or other quiet setting on the school site.Parent participants would complete the survey at home.The survey results will be pooled for the thesis project and individual results of this study will remain absolutely confidential and anonymous.This report is part of the RAND Corporation dissertation series.Pardee RAND dissertations are produced by graduate fellows of the Pardee RAND Graduate School, the world's leading producer of Ph.
