The abolitionist movement is mainly about movements that occurred in order to help slavery and it reveals how important figures never gave up to free their people.

Many of these historical events happen during the period of Harriet Jacobs.

Harriet writes; “I was born a slave; but I never knew it till six years of happy childhood had passed away” (Jacobs 921). They were both traded multiple times to different masters due to unforeseen events and deaths.
