The Outsiders focuses on the life of Ponyboy Curtis who has two brothers, Darry and Sodapop, which belong to a group of young people that were called greasers.

The Greasers defined as a group of hoodlums with a background of being poor, mean, and violent.... Hinton takes place in a small town in the southwestern part of the United States and it's about two groups of kids called the Socs (socials) who are the rich kids and the Greasers, who are the poor kids.

There is another group called “ socs” which stands for socials, and everyone in that group is very wealthy.
