The primary difference between Socrates and the Sophists seems to lie in a disagreement on whether or not a truth (or knowledge) might be absolute.

We are encouraged to find ‘user groups’ outside the academy for our research and to make sure our research can be shown to have influenced what they do and how they think in a measurable way.
Furthermore, if my students want to know how to present their work more clearly, loudly, logically and confidently, all power to them.
I don’t want them to be the colleagues of the future whom everyone else wishes would speak louder, make more sense or be less excruciatingly apologetic.
