Dissertation Scholarships

Eligibility Eligible graduate students for the AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research will be at the writing stage of their dissertation by the beginning of the fellowship.The dissertation study should focus on an education research topic such as high stakes testing; ethnic studies/curriculum; tracking; STEM development; measurement of achievement and opportunity gaps; English language learners; or bullying and restorative justice.

It supports fellows conducting education research and provides mentoring and guidance toward the completion of their doctoral studies.

Call for Proposals Award Period Each fellowship award is for 1 year, beginning July 1, 2020 or later, and is nonrenewable.

This fellowship program is intended as a write-up fellowship.

Fellowships are awarded for doctoral dissertation research conducted under faculty sponsorship in any accredited university in the United States.

This program is also open to outstanding students who may not intend to teach in theological education, but whose dissertation projects have the potential to strengthen the religious life of North American Christians and their institutions. The Dissertation Fellowship (DF) program supports the final year Ph. Proposed projects may employ a variety of methodological perspectives, including, but not limited to, history, ethics, the social sciences, biblical studies, and historical, systematic, and practical theology. In all its grantmaking, including the Dissertation Fellowship program, LI is interested in funding projects with the potential to strengthen the religious life of North American Christians and their institutions while simultaneously advancing American religious and theological scholarship.

Preference given to students engaged in research pertaining to North American Christianity, especially projects related to Institute mission priorities. Previous DF Fellowships DF applicants must be candidates for the Ph. These fellowships are intended to support the final year of dissertation writing.

Doctoral Fellows are encouraged to apply for the Dissertation Fellowship program. Transcripts must be received on or before February 1st.

It is also open to outstanding students who may not intend to teach in theological education, but whose dissertation projects have the potential to strengthen the religious life of North American Christians and their institutions. Recommenders must submit their letters by February 8th. Applications must include: Every year the Louisville Institute Board appoints a selection committee to review proposals and award Dissertation Fellowships.

This fellowship is targeted for members of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g., African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders).

This program offers doctoral fellowships to enhance the competitiveness of outstanding minority scholars for academic appointments at major research universities.
