A Critical Thinking test, also known as a critical reasoning test, determines your ability to reason through an argument logically and make an objective decision.

You may be required to assess a situation, recognize assumptions being made, create hypotheses, and evaluate arguments. Questions are very likely to be based on the Watson and Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal model, which contains five sections specially designed to find out how good an individual is at reasoning analytically and logically.

You will be provided with a small passage of information and you will need to evaluate a conclusion made based on that passage.

If the conclusion cannot be drawn from the information given, then the conclusion does not follow.

It is also defined as the ability to process information from different sources reasonably and creatively.

Companies utilize this test to hire strong, dedicated employees who will go on to become future leaders. An argument is weak if it is not directly related to the question, of minor importance, or it confuses correlation with causation (which is incorrectly assuming that just because two things are related, they are the cause of each other). People make many assumptions which may not necessarily be correct; being able to identify these is a key aspect of critical reasoning. An assumption question will include a statement and a number of assumptions. An employee’s ability to effectively use information and make the right decision will ensure passing the test. The test is internationally recognized, it is a scientifically-reliable and trusted by many companies as a primary tool to assess the candidate’s skills. The Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal Test was published by the Pearson’s Clinical Assessment Group, an international company with offices in 14 countries. The test that features critical reasoning questions, is available in tens of languages and countries around the world including United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The test is available both without a time limit and a 30-minute timed version. In the timed version, you will only have 30 minutes to complete the test. Many established organizations like law firms, information technology organizations, and other companies use this test to bring critical thinkers on board.Available in English, French, Dutch, and Spanish, candidates can either take the test online or can make use of the pen-paper format.Critical thinking can be defined as one’s ability to rationally or logically think about a particular problem.
