In 2014, Hannah was awarded an AHRC International Placement Scheme Fellowship at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin.

JT joined the Department in September 2016 as Lecturer in English and Creative Industries.

Hannah Roche joined the Department as Lecturer in Twentieth-Century Literature and Culture in January 2018.

Before arriving at York, Hannah taught at the University of Leeds.

He is the author of eight novels, including , and numerous other publications.

In addition, he has been a tutor for the Arvon Foundation and was the RLF Fellow at Leeds University for two years, specialising in human geography and environmental studies.He received his Ph D in English from University College London (UCL) in 2011.From 2012-13 he was a Research Fellow at Harvard University working with meta LAB (at) Harvard, a digital humanities research centre.The Writing and Language Skills Centre is a free service, based in the Harry Fairhurst Building (LFA/102), open to all undergraduate and taught postgraduate students interested in discussing and developing their academic writing.They offer one-to-one appointments during which they help you work on all aspects of academic writing.For the past 35 years her teaching has been mainly about creative writing and she has worked in a wide variety of contexts, including many schools and several universities across North-east England where she lives.In 2001/2 she held a Royal Literary Fund Fellowship at Newcastle University and in 2013/14 she taught on a Poetry & Poetics course at Durham University. In 2004 she worked with women from the Orthodox Jewish community in Gateshead and in 2009/10 in a residency with Freedom From Torture, with asylum seekers in Newcastle and Stockton. Eliot Prize and she received The Northern Rock Foundation Writer’s Award in 2005 and The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2016.She is currently involved with Hearing the Voice, an interdisciplinary project at Durham University, contributing poems on the subject of literary voice-hearing. Gillian Allnutt is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term.To contact her, email [email protected] Paul Sayer has been a writer for 30 years.Alexandra joined the department in 2016 as an Associate Lecturer in English Literature.Until recently, she taught at the University of Sydney, where she also completed her Ph D.
