Stone Cold will allow pupils to explore the issue of homelessness, whilst at GCSE.Following this, we will revise Language Component 1 in class with a focus on Creative Writing and reading prose.Pupils will become well skilled in analysing and evaluating language to ensure they have the perceptive thinking process needed to Grade 5 and above.They will study the play and a vast range of poetry over time.All pupils are issued with a poetry anthology from EDUQAS.Here, our schemes build on the skills they’ve learnt in KS3 and we focus on developing their ability to write within a time frame to suit exam conditions.We also give your son/daughter the opportunity to explore Literature with a 2 term study of Shakespeare’s a brutal murder and take of power, guilt and deception.This year, our year 10s will be studying a combination of both Literature and Language. Building on their year 9 study, they will become more creative, more ambitious and more subtle. They will be expected to purchase their own copy of the text and revision guides to support their end of year exams on these novellas.Pupils will also focus on non-fiction both reading and writing it for their Component 2 of Language.Independent revision using their own copies of the texts and revision folders should be happening at home throughout this pivotal year.Year 12 Throughout their first year of their A Level study your son/daughter will cover all components of the course.
