I am not guaranteeing anything– these are just observations I’ve made in applying to nearly thirty jobs (some research-focused and some teaching-focused), serving on search committees, and editing dozens of cover letters for others. Think of it this way: after the job season, you’ll have written maybe half a dozen varieties of research- and teaching-focused letters.
Let’s say you are an artist: maybe one letter highlights creative practice, one highlights curriculum building, one is suited for a fine arts department, one for social science, and one for the humanities.
Teachers and trainers may use this material for in-class and out-of-class instruction.
