Like any bibliography, an annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of research sources.

In addition to bibliographic data, an annotated bibliography provides a concise summary of each source and some assessment of its value or relevance.

Your list should be titled “Annotated Bibliography.” Not "Bibliography," not "Works Cited".

Put this title in the top center of your first page. Divide your Annotated Bibliography into two sections, labeled "Primary Sources" and "Secondary Sources." allow citations in Chicago or MLA Style, but this resource focuses on Chicago Style.

Level of Detail Some annotated bibliographies will call for a cursory description in preparation for a research project, while others will require more detailed analysis.
